ESMAC Meeting Secretariat
Dear ESMAC Members, Colleagues and Friends,
On behalf of the organising committee of the annual meeting of the European Society for Movement Analysis in Adults and Children (ESMAC), we would like to welcome you all to Dublin from 19 – 24 September 2022.
The organising committee are excited to be able to host the ESMAC conference in one of Dublin’s most famous venues, Croke Park, and are planning an exciting scientific programme consisting of many oral and poster sessions, including excellent keynote speakers. Prof. Brian Caulfield, Prof. Friedl De Groote and Prof. Jim Usherwood will all present on a diverse range of professional experience. The esteemed Baumann lecture, in memory of the late Prof. Baumann, will be presented by Jean Stout from Gillette Children’s Speciality Healthcare. There will be the ESMAC Gait Course in the days prior to the congress, guided by our experienced gait analysts, while pre-congress seminars will be scheduled ranging from topics such as musculoskeletal modelling to surgical intervention. Please check our website regularly for updates to the scientific programme.
Of course, another reason to come is to visit Dublin and beyond. This is the perfect chance to experience all the city has to offer so why not come and share a pint. Or why not stay a little longer and venture beyond, taking in our diverse culture, historic landmarks, and beautiful scenery.
After what has been a challenging two years, it is hoped that we will all be able to gather in person once again to meet up with old friends and discuss and share new developments and research related to our field. The organising committee are aware of the various concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic and will remain responsive to on-going public health advice and travel restrictions. Please keep a regular check on our website and an eye on your inbox for updates.
We hope that you will be able to join us as we host ESMAC 2022 and we look forward to welcoming you to this beautiful city.
The Children’s Memorial Health Institute (CMHI) in Warsaw, Poland, has selflessly taken on the admirable task of helping children affected by the war in Ukraine. One of our long-standing members (and past Secretary, and past Teacher, and local organiser of ESMAC 2004), Professor Małgorzata Syczewska, is vice president of the Foundation to Support CMHI. This year the ESMAC board and the local organiser of ESMAC 2022 in Dublin have agreed that we will donate the income of the Charity Run to the Foundation*, who will forward it to the CMHI Department of Rehabilitation to help Ukrainian children with motor disabilities. We are pleased that we can direct our targeted help through our ESMAC network where it is needed.
Please sign up for the Charity Run when you register to help children in Ukraine. Not only running, but jogging, walking, standing, sitting, kneeling, lying, or even not turning up is permitted!
